Latest News, what we have been doing!
Mood:  energetic
Topic: Updates
Hello all,

Just an update on all the things we have been up to!! Shall put this on our blog too, on the web-site.
Lichfield Buskathon, last week we put in some of our raffle and the money collected on a rained off busk at Burntwood boat rally for the Lichfield Free Fuse festival. We have posted off £30.70 to them. Thanks for the contributions and to those who pledged in advance!

The Lichfield Festival spots were not so good due to weather, on the first set again rained off!! Then we performed totally acoustically in front of Lichfield Cathedral, with no promised PA as it was too wet after another downpour, but we did attract an audience!! If any of you are on Face book please befriend us/join us and a picture of us is there taken by Aiden Mullender, who organises the Jug of Punch Folk Club in Sutton , last Sundays of the month at the Sutton Coldfield, Town football Club, Coles Lane, Sutton Coldfield, thanks Aiden for coming! We are guest artists in September. They need better support so please try and go when able to keep folk alive in Sutton!

Tim’s solo event went well too at Middleton Hall, featuring two of his guitar pupils and Malcolm Gibbons guest jazz guitarist. Look out for some footage on U-tube when we have time will let you know when up and running, meanwhile look up Tim’s Myspace site.
Latest, was the Moot at Tamworth. our support spot on Friday went down well with the Karrivick sisters, and thanks to the organisers for booking us! Saturday we were on the Tamworth Castle Bandstand, Carl was booked on a magic show so Kim Rigby played amazing congas and drums on our set for the percussion on our set.
We are now off Sat morning to Bury St Edmunds, at the Constitutional Club, Guildhall St Bury St Edmunds, not the Milk Maid Folk Club, but hosted by them, to play on one of the Folk 21 series of showcases to promote gigs for folk artists in folk club venues and festivals, so wish us luck!!

At our club we look after artists unknown and offer them a gig if we think they are of the standard, otherwise these people would not get a gig, so this is all an extension of our cause. I don’t think our Cheque-Mates gig goers have been disappointed.
